An irrigation system capacity expansion, project improvement and upgrading of Betumpu Agriculture Development Area’s (KKP) Farm and Flood Mitigation worth BND6.5 million will be carried out by Seri Ghanimi Contractor Sdn Bhd after the signing of contract between the Department of Agriculture and Agrifood under the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) with Seri Ghanimi Contractor Sdn Bhd on Tuesday.
Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, the guest of honour, witnessed the signing.
Legislative Council member and Village Head of Kampong Limau Manis Yang Berhormat Haji Mohimin bin Haji Johari @ Jahari, Permanent Secretary at the MPRT Hajah Tutiaty binti Haji Abdul Wahab, deputy permanent secretaries and heads of departments under the MPRT also attended.
Acting Director of Agriculture and Agrifood Hajah Masliana Yuliah binti Abdullah signed on behalf of the Department of Agriculture and Agrifood, witnessed by Head Executive Officer Pengiran Mohammad Fadly Harfinie bin Pengiran Haji Mohammad Kassim.
Meanwhile, Seri Ghanimi Contractor Sdn Bhd Managing Director Mohammed Abdul Javad bin Mohammed Abdul Kadir inked the contract, witnessed by Manager Haji Hadanan bin Haji Yahya.
The irrigation system capacity expansion project is in Phase Three of the Wasan Bebuloh mechanism scheme, with upgrading project and raising efficiency of the pump facility and water tanks in Imang dam, connecting irrigation pipes from the catchment pond at KKP Batang Perhentian and building of a new catchment pond in Junjungan agriculture development area. The project is expected to be completed by July 2022.
The improvement on KKP Betumpu, Farm and Flood Mitigation is aimed at building a flood mitigation system and upgrading of basic structures such as roads and ditches in KKP Betumpu to help reduce losses to farmers as a result of the frequent flooding in the area. The project is scheduled to be completed in October 2022.
The project is worth BND6.5 million, and is designed and implemented by Seri Ghanimi Contractor Sdn Bhd.
