Police investigations are on in the case of a Filipino man, suspected of committing suicide by jumping off the third floor of a building in Kiulap early on Tuesday.
The deceased’s colleague said the man did not show any signs of depression or concern, days leading up to the incident.
“My boss woke me up at 8.30am and informed me join other employees at a restaurant downstairs. When I heard what had happened, I was shocked.”
The colleague, who did not want to be identified, said the victim was a man “full of life” and never showed concern or signs that he was depressed or had problems. He said he was aware the victim had financial problems, but added that did not affect the victim’s attitude as he was an energetic and friendly person.
He said he and his colleagues are not aware as to why the victim committed suicide.
The victim is in his mid-forties. His wife and two children are in the Philippines. He has been in Brunei for over seven years and worked as a waiter for over five years.
The public was shocked after the news went viral with pictures showing a police car and an ambulance and the area cordoned.
