THE Dimension Strata Sdn Bhd signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Serintel Srl at Radisson Hotel in the capital yesterday.
Signing on behalf of Dimension Strata Sdn Bhd was Managing Director Mohammad Reuan bin Haji Mohd Yusof while Managing Director Vito di Marco signed on behalf of Serintel Srl. Deputy Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw witnessed the signing.
The Managing Director of Dimension Strata said the company aims to open additional avenues for Bruneians with geoscience qualifications to pursue career options, not only in petroleum geoscience services but also in geoscience research activities.
He added that Serintel from Italy is an established oil and gas industry training organisation, providing managerial, professional and technical training services in disciplines from the upstream to midstream and also downstream plant operations, and consultancy services and training to clients in Europe, South America, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
“One of the challenges facing the oil and gas industry today is being able to explore, develop, produce and continue to produce crude oil and natural gas from ever complex geological and geophysical conditions,” he said.
“With the price of oil becoming ever more unpredictable in the mid to long-term, the industry is constantly looking towards technological advancement and innovations to achieve continual improvement in minimising exploration risk, enhancing operational cost and time efficiency, cost reduction and rationalisation, production optimisation and ultimately improvement towards the bottom line.” Three presentations were delivered – ‘Geoscience and Technology: Evolving models to support professionals and organisations in the Oil and Gas Upstream’ by Dr Lorenzo Lipparini, ‘Seismic Characterisation and Geomodeling as Robust Tools for Field Development: Dimension Strata’s Solutions’ by Dr AKM Eahsanul Haque and ‘Earthquake Geology of Borneo’ by Dr Afroz Ahmad Shah.
The event concluded with the panel discussion on ‘Geoscience in Brunei Darussalam Possibilities for Diversification’.
